History
Kirkway International Limited was formed in 1982 as the private-label Bermuda broker for a publicly-traded insurance group (A.M. Best A Rated / NYSE Listed). In 2001 the company was taken private through a management buyout and Kirkway has since operated as a completely independent intermediary.

For the past thirty plus years Kirkway has specialized in providing excess insurance and reinsurance solutions to both traditional insurance companies and alternative risk vehicles.

During this period the company has concentrated its efforts on casualty lines with a specific emphasis on healthcare, construction, transportation, workers' compensation and political / trade credit risk.

Differentiation
Kirkway is the leading independent broker on the island with no corporate ties to broking houses, captive management companies or other industry stakeholders. As such, we are uniquely positioned to provide unbiased advice on issues such as; the best structure, the most appropriate insurance or reinsurance solution, alternative risk vehicle suitability, domicile selection and management.

Kirkway is experienced in providing solutions for the complete spectrum from multi-national public companies through to small captive operations.

On large corporate accounts we work with independent onshore retail brokers to provide sophisticated solutions for specific risk management challenges, fully utilizing the broad capabilities of both the reinsurance & insurance markets. The result is dramatically improved premium & cash flow compared to the traditional market offerings.

Smaller accounts which lack economy of scale and consequently are normally fitted to traditional market solutions. These do not provide the real level of protection required but are purchased to appease regulators. A prime example is swing rated reinsurance, where often the swing increases the effect of volatility and does not enhance the security as expected. Kirkway tailors coverage to give support exactly where required to bolster and protect the balance sheet.
